Supported platforms

• TikTok: videos, photo slideshows, and MP3 audio.
• Instagram: posts, reels, photos, carousels, and IGTV links.
• Facebook: videos, reels, photos, and watch links.
• X / Twitter: videos and photos from public posts.
• YouTube: videos from watch, Shorts, and youtu.be links (MP4 and optional audio).
• SoundCloud: public tracks as MP3. Paste one track link. Playlists and sets are not supported.

Paste any public post URL on the downloader homepage.

How to use

1. Copy a post link

   Open TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, YouTube, or SoundCloud and copy the video, photo, or track URL.

2. Paste the URL

   Paste the link into the input box on the homepage and click Download.

3. Save the file

   Choose the best quality and save MP4, photo, or MP3 (TikTok).

Facebook private videos

Private reels can open in a small Facebook window while you stay on this site. Log in to Facebook in that popup if asked, let the reel play for a few seconds, then use Capture video now if auto-capture did not finish.

If automatic capture fails, open the video while logged in, press Ctrl+U to view page source, copy all HTML, expand Advanced on the homepage, paste the source, and click Download from source.

Advanced fallback

Use manual page source when automatic download fails on Instagram, Facebook, or X/Twitter.

Use these only if automatic download fails. Works with Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and X / Twitter.

Public API

Integrate resolve, platform metadata, and bookmark shortcuts via the documented v1 API on api.newstargeted.com.

• GET /social-downloads/v1/resolve?url=... for simple resolves (URL query only).
• POST /social-downloads/v1/resolve with JSON body for iOS Shortcuts, Android Tasker, and other clients that avoid long URL parameters:

  Optional fields: source (HTML page source), cookies (Facebook session). Form POST and postLink alias are also accepted.
• GET /social-downloads/v1/platforms: supported platforms and example URLs.
• GET /social-downloads/v1/bookmark: bookmarklet and mobile shortcut metadata.
• GET /social-downloads/v1/health: service health check.

Download links in API responses include downloads.mp4_hd (long token URLs), plus download_ids and download_short_urls for iOS Shortcuts. Token links expire after download_token_ttl_seconds. Use download_by_url for links that never expire.

When resolve or download fails, responses are JSON with error, error_code, request (method, path, full_url_redacted, query lengths), and details.received. iOS Shortcuts can parse this with Get Dictionary from Input.

iOS Shortcuts (recommended flow):

1. POST /api/resolve with JSON {"url":"POST_URL"}
2. Read download_ids.mp4_hd (16-character id, not the long token URL)
3. Download with POST https://sd.newstargeted.com/download and JSON body {"id":"PASTE_ID_HERE"}

Alternative: GET https://sd.newstargeted.com/download/d/{id} (short path, no long query string). Permanent option: download_by_url.hd or GET /social-downloads/v1/download?url=POST_URL&quality=hd.

Do not open long /download?token=... links in Shortcuts. iOS often truncates them so the server receives only ?token with token_length: 0.

API error codes

When resolve or download fails, JSON responses include success: false, a human-readable error, a machine-readable error_code, and a request object (method, path, redacted URL, query lengths). Download errors may also include details.token or details.download_id with diagnosis fields.

Add ?format=json to download URLs if your client needs JSON instead of plain text errors.

Download failures may include these reason values under details.token or details.download_id:

• Token: missing, malformed, invalid_signature, invalid_payload, expired, cdn_not_allowed, valid
• Short download id: missing, not_found, invalid_record, expired, token_* (prefixed token failure), valid

Instagram resolve failures may also include instagram_server_session, needs_instagram_admin_setup, or platform-specific hints. YouTube failures may include needs_youtube_browser: true.
